One of the most interesting aspects of work clothing is the point of origin –be it part of a military uniform, a staple among a particular trade, a link to sportswear or even underwear, we’re never not interested. When the time came to think about our point of view on such an iterated, storied workwear staple, we knew exactly what to reference: a vintage ribbed cotton Henley that we dug from the collection at Circa Vintage in New Bedford, Mass. This thing managed to feel both of the past and present with a modern, body skimming fit and breathable but substantial 2x2 rib that was ideal for shoulder seasons.

When we first mentioned the idea to our pals at Fall River Knitting Mill, they had just come into some domestically grown, fine staple cotton. Given its soft hand, we knew we had the opportunity to do something special. The fifth generation family member at Fall River Knitting we work even remarked our vintage henley looked familiar and most likely was produced by the Mill. One might call that serendipity.

Our five button, custom 2x2 ribbed 100% cotton Henley is offered garment dyed in New Hampshire for the perfect rust red color and naturally dyed in indigo just outside of Philadelphia. Custom, plant based dyed, tonal corozo buttons are incredibly durable and made from the tagua nut (Phytelephas macrocarpas) in South America. The super flattering, body skimming fit is easy to wear on its own, but a delight to wear layered over a tissue tee or under a favorite chore coat.
